For the past 3 years, the City of Frisco has been working diligently with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad to make improvements at railroad intersections to meet Federal Railroad Administration's No Train Horn Rule design requirements. The certification has been granted for Frisco TX's Quiet Zones starting Wednesday January 5th at these intersections:

  • Northbound North Texas Tollway
  • Southbound North Texas Tollway
  • Frisco Square Boulevard
  • Main Street
  • All Stars Boulevard

The Quiet Zone establishment is certainly great news for residents living closer to the railroad tracks (Estates of Cobb Hill, Frisco Square residences and homes all along historic Downtown Frisco).

It is a Federal Law to sound the horn for 15 to 20 seconds prior to approaching an intersection. In order to establish the Quiet Zone, the City of Frisco installed extra safety measures such as median barriers, flashing lights and gates. The gates will still be in operation, however the passing trains will no longer sound the horn.

Frisco where it startedThe City of Frisco has a rich railroad history. Frisco is located on Shawnee Trail between the Red River (Oklahoma/ Texas border) and Austin. Frisco was conveniently located in its path. Shawnee Trail later became Preston Trail and today is known as Preston Road. Early settlers used this trail heading north from Austin. A small town back in 1838 known as Lebanon (now a part of Frisco TX) was a thriving cattle town that the railroads passed through. Early original railroad construction began in 1849 in St. Louis, Missouri and 53 years later, completed what we know today as the St. Louis San Francisco Railroad. The men at the Depot Station along this track soon referred the place as, "Frisco". Hence, how Frisco got its name.

In 1908, Frisco became a city and in 1910, about 332 residents called Frisco home. In1920, the population almost doubled to 733 and remained at that level until 1950s. In 1960, the population grew to 1,182, in 1970 to 3,499 and in 1990, 6,141 residents. Today, in 2010 almost 110,000 people call Frisco home.

Residents in Frisco TX will most definitely appreciate the Quiet Zone established in the first week of January 2011.

CLIENT TESTIMONIALS

Read about what our satisfied clients have to say:

When she arrived for our appointment, we went through the normal preliminary procedures and all was fine. Then she surprised us. She had already done most of the work and only needed to take a few pictures of the inside and determine the price that we would be comfortable asking. She also spent a great deal of time explaining to us how the whole sales process work and what we could expect.

Eric & Tomoko Quere, Plano TX

Ultimately, Loreena introduced us to the house we bought--it was not one we found from our own hours of searching web listings--based on the the comments we had made while we visited these different homes. This is a testimony to her ability to listen well and to work proactively on our behalf.

Jenn & Glen Miller, Denton TX

We were completely impressed with Loreena. She helped us find and buy a home in Frisco. We have very high expectations from a realtor and she surpassed them. Knows her market extremely well, not just the technical market pricing data, but the nuances of all the neighborhoods as well. One of the most responsive and professional persons I've met in my entire business career.

Ruth & Jerry Meek, Frisco TX

I just want to thank you again for your help in selling our house. In this tough economy and market, I really didn't expect to get an offer. But you counseled me so well in pricing the house to sell and yet not letting me accept an offer that was too low. I believe we got the best deal we could have. I was so pleased and surprised with what we walked away with.

Sally & Phillip Barnard, Frisco TX
