Home > Relocating to Frisco Texas > Where Can You Buy A Home for $150,000?

So, you want to move to the North Texas area. You have a $150,000 budget to spend. Where could you make the most out of your money?

My initial guess was that you perhaps wanted to look for a single family home around the $150K price range. THough you have townhomes, luxury apartments and duplexes to select from too. Assuming that you are looking for a single-family home, one of a good place to start is here in Frisco, TX.

Relocating to North Texas. Your Choices Are Plenty.

This price range is very reasonable. Here in Frisco, TX, we are currently in a somewhat of a “depressed” market right now. Lots of foreclosures and short sales drive down the prices of the homes. That is good news to you as a buyer. Houses in Frisco are fairly new and you can get a lot “house” for the money.

About Plano, it has always been a high-sought after city for people to relocate to. A lot has to do with their very strong school system. It is exceptional. And so is the Frisco ISD. But if you compare them both side by side, I would say that Plano is much more competitive. It is a good thing. If you have children, it’s a good place to start. And if you don’t, it’s still advantageous to you since the demand is high for Plano houses. However, there is not much house you purchase in Plano for around $150K. We are able to find it, but it is not as much as Frisco. Also because Frisco is the next city north of Plano, many Plano houses around that price range would be built around the late 80s and early 90s.

About Little Elm, it is a city west of Frisco. While Little Elm is divided into Frisco ISD and Little Elm ISD, it depends on the area you select. Little Elm is fairly new like Frisco with much more starter homes between $125K - $150K. Little Elm is near Lake Lewisville so if you were a lake person, Little Elm would be a place you look at also.

About McKinney and Allen, both are cities you could consider also. The market conditions and types of houses you could purchase are pretty similar to Frisco. These cities have recently created many new housing development projects for first-time homeowners or down-size buyers in the $150K price point.

About Carrollton, because Carrollton “started” much earlier than Frisco, Little Elm areas, hence the $150K would buy you an “older” home. Older homes have their own great characters with charming trees and a more established neighborhood feel and at the same time, it lacks the spaciousness and openness quality of a newer home. So, again it depends on what you are looking for.

Same goes for Richardson. And Dallas with Richardson school district. It is a high-demand area, but homes are older.

I strongly encourage you to keep your options “open” as far as location. What I had described to you is in general terms whereas when you do more research on one particular home, each house has its own pros and cons and we can discuss them in further details.

I hope this information has been helpful. Please continue to use my website and check out my blog often. I write a lot about real estate in this area in hopes that I am able to serve your housing needs better. I believe that when you have the appropriate information, and with my assistance, will be able to find a house that fit your needs.
